A MacGuffin, in film school parlance, is a plot device (tangible or otherwise) that motivates the characters without necessarily explaining why. The new Avengers: Age of Ultron took it a step further with an all-too-confusing scene involving a shirtless Thor standing in a pool of water seeing visions of the future. The stone has the power to steal or control a persons soul I’ll leave it at that. I can’t really type the rest out without spoiling the plot of the movie. But all will be revealed in Infinity War as the stone plays a very integral part of the story. Its locations are unknown and its identity is also unknown. Not much is known about the soul stone within the MCU. An android who’s abilities (no thanks to the stone) are second to none. This particular stone creates energy blasts and in Age of Ultron powers the superhero Vision. This weapon was gifted to Loki by Thanos which he used to control peoples minds. Loki came to Earth to try and rule and his weapon of choice was a sceptre. The Mind Stone (AKA Loki’s Sceptre)įirst seen in Avengers Assemble this yellow stone once belonged to Thor’s brother Loki. The pendant controls the power of the stone and concentrates it for use. The housing it’s contained in (the pendant) was created by the first Sorcerer Supreme. The stone, when used properly, can reverse or fast-forward time. Strange’s pendant and is protected by a magical spell.
